Story Behind the Artwork
Kintsugi, meaning "golden joinery," emerged in Japan as an art form that repaired broken pottery using lacquer mixed with gold. Rather than hiding fractures, the technique honored them, turning damage into part of the object's story. This artwork carries the same philosophy, celebrating growth through adversity and beauty through transformation. The golden lines symbolize experiences, challenges, and moments that shape identity rather than diminish it.
Artist’s Note
This piece was created across 18 hours of focused studio work, allowing each golden line to be carefully placed to achieve a natural sense of flow and balance. The intention was not to depict damage, but to illustrate resilience and renewal.
